Questions about G400/G410 Cards.

Hi all,
I am really confused about codec to use in gsm while routing the calls from and to gsm gateway. The G400E card. I am using asterisk-1.8, machine is Ubuntu 12.04 and dahdi version is 2.6. I just need to know which codec to configure the ipphone. Also a little info about the hardware side will also help me to understand it. How the hardware will receive the codec from application(asterisk)i.e in which form, Also is there any technique involved in hardware side to transfer in specific codec fromat to the mobile provider. Hope people will get back with relevant answers .

Hello,
General speaking, the IP-phone has a priority for settings various codec. For example, g711ulaw64k, g711alaw64k, g729, g723, g726 etc. In order to specify a specific codec, only allow one codec to be transmit to. For example, in your sip phone configuration file sip.conf, set it like this: disallow=all, allow=g722.
