B400E in TE and NT mode on Trixbox 2.6.1

15 years 7 months ago #1714 by ymaglaras
Hello.

I have a B400E card that i installed using mISDN on the latest Trixbox (2.6.1). I would like to use 2 bri ports in TE mode and the other 2 in NT mode. The TE ports work fine, using custom trunks in Trixbox, but I have no idea how to use the NT ports.

msidnportinfo, gives the following:
Port 1: TE-mode BRI S/T interface line (for phone lines)
-> Interface is Poin-To-Point.
-> Protocol: DSS1 (Euro ISDN)
-> Layer 4 protocol 0x04000001 is detected, but not allowed for TE lib.
-> childcnt: 2
* Port NOT useable for PBX (maybe there is already a PBX running?)
--------
Port 2: TE-mode BRI S/T interface line (for phone lines)
-> Interface is Poin-To-Point.
-> Protocol: DSS1 (Euro ISDN)
-> Layer 4 protocol 0x04000001 is detected, but not allowed for TE lib.
-> childcnt: 2
* Port NOT useable for PBX (maybe there is already a PBX running?)
--------
Port 3: NT-mode BRI S/T interface port (for phones)
-> Layer 2 protocol 0x02000002 is detected, but not allowed for NT lib.
* Port NOT useable for PBX (maybe there is already a PBX running?)
--------
Port 4: NT-mode BRI S/T interface port (for phones)
-> Layer 2 protocol 0x02000002 is detected, but not allowed for NT lib.
* Port NOT useable for PBX (maybe there is already a PBX running?)
--------

I have connected port 3 of the card to an ISDN pbx (in one of its trunk ports) and the led of the card's port is lit (not flashing), which means that there is a connection.
However, I don't know how to actually use the port. I suppose I need a custom extension, but I don't know how to configure it.

For the TE ports, I have 2 custom trunks with mISDN/1/$OUTNUM$ and mISDN/2/$OUTNUM$.

Thanks

P.S.: Which is better, mISDN or Bristuff? Which one should I use? I also tried installing Bristuff on Trixbox 2.6.1, but failed miserably... I think the instructions are outdated.

hello:
you can try the setting from-extension->add extension->custom extensions. i think this is a only way to configure that.
regards!

Hi. Thanks for the answer. I know I should do that, but I don't know what "dial" string to use for the custom extension. How do I choose the port?

Hi,I want to test the same configuration on my PBX: 2 ports in TE mode (to connect an ISDN phone) and the other 2 in NT mode.

On the card are 3 switches but I don't know how to configure them, which should I change?

looking the card I have:

- NT/TE switches close to the ethernet ports (connecting SWX01 pins to JPY pins)
- SW switches close to NT/TE switches (smaller than NT/TE switches, seems a sort of on/off switch)
- Power switches in the upper right corner of the card (as for the SW switches, seems a kind of on/off switch)

What I'd like to know is how to change jumper setting to make my card work with an ISDN phone.

Thank you

Giorgio

Maybe a picture with the switches pointed out may help.

If you want to set a port to NT mode, you have to set those three switches:

Adjusting Termination of S/T Interface (100 ohm)
1. If a port will work on NT mode, user should set jumper to CONNECT
(ON).
2. If a port will work on TE mode, Theoretically it should be to
OPEN(OFF), but user might connect to some non-standard isdn
terminal equipments that do not have terminal resistors, for such
equipments, you should set it to CONNECT(ON).

Power Feeding Connector
These jumpers control whether the card will feed power to the external
isdn terminal. User should adjust accordingly.
--If the port will work on TE mode, user MUST set the jumper to
OPEN(OFF)
-- If this port will work on NT mode, the ISDN terminal requires
ISDN power supply, user should set the jumper to CONNECT(ON).
ISDN terminal does not require ISDN power supply, user should
set the jumper to OPEN(OFF).
Please connect the 12V power jack if you want to set a port to NT mode.
