Hello,
I see that the module "codec_g722.so" exist inside this folder "/usr/lib/asterisk/modules/", but it does not is displayed in the openvox web admin panel under "SIP Settings-->Codecs" menu option.

The Web Admin Panel only allow me to select the following codecs:
Allowed Codecs: u-law, a-law, GSM, ILBC, SPEEX, G.726, ADPCM, LPC10, G.729, G.723, H.263, H.263p, H.264

Any advice how to enable the g722 codec and allow me to select it through the web admin panel?

Hi,

Sorry, If the G722 section not shown you can try to set it in the sip.conf file , you can add this line allow=g722 under your sip accout .
Please try, I am not sure if it will work .

Hello,

Thanks for your quick response, but still getting the next codec in the order, what I meant, is that it doesn't get the g722 audio codec.

I set the "sip.conf" file to:
allow=g722,g729,ulaw,alaw,g723,gsm

Then I test calling to a second extension and this is the result on Asterisk CLI console:
*CLI> sip show channels
Peer User/ANR Call ID Format Hold Last Message Expiry
192.168.1.202 6001 32d1f0b22996751 0x100 (g729) No Tx: ACK
192.168.1.201 6000 b34990-0-13c4-5 0x100 (g729) No Rx: ACK
2 active SIP dialogs

btw, both IP phones has installed the g722 codec

Hello hua,

Well, the thing is that I'd like to use the g722 codec due it is a HD or a wideband codec, the difference is that g722 employs compression combined with higher rate to obtain a practical acoustic bandwidth of 50 Hz - 7000 Hz. The difference in voice quality is quite noticeable compared with g711 (ulaw) or even g729.

Regards
