gsm send at command vs ttyGSM0

I found asterisk CLI gsm at commands broken:
*CLI> gsm send at 1 AT+CCFC=0,3,"+48xxxxxxxxx"

ERROR

while
socat - /dev/ttyGSM0
AT+CCFC=0,3,"+48xxxxxxxxx"
AT+CCFC=0,3,"+48xxxxxxxxx"

OK


There are many other commands that work in the TTY mode and not in the asterisk CLI gsm.... Why is that?
