Check which band is in use for antenna selection

I am getting very poor reception and would like to boost the signal, but not sure which frequency to focus on when purchasing. Is there any way to tell which frequency the modems are currently connected on? I think it is 850 / 1900 mhz, but can't be sure which and some antennas with great reviews are only good for one or the other.

I was looking at the GSM Modem manual www.sigmaelectronica.net/docs/Quectel/Qu...ands_Manual_V1.0.pdf and all I could find was
AT+QCFG="band"

which just returns:
2017-06-16 04:43:42 +QCFG: "band",111

Which I think is all bands it supports from this part of the docs:
The band of UE (e.g. 147=1+2+16+128 means GSM900&GSM1800&WCDMA2100&WCDMA900)
1 GSM 900
2 GSM 1800
4 GSM850
8 GSM1900
16 WCDMA 2100
32 WCDMA 1900
64 WCDMA 850
128 WCDMA 900
256 WCDMA 800
512 Any

But I want to know specifically which band it is connected to the tower with so I can boost that one.

Hi,

You can try to execute AT command “AT+QGBAND” to get current band.Response value is the current band. Here is the explanation of parameter:
<currentband>
Current operation band of module
1 GSM 900
2 GSM 1800
4 GSM 850
8 GSM 1900
16 WCDMA 2100
32 WCDMA 1900
64 WCDMA 850
128 WCDMA 900
256 WCDMA 800

Hope that can help you.
