IPC110 Board no output on console

Greetings
We just purchased an IPC 110 board without any VGA adapter. We have connected the board on the power and we have an rs232 console cable connected to your machine (via USB2Searial adapter).

However, nothing is printed on the screen except after a few seconds we see the below message:

Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key

We see not POST procedure output nor any options to enter the bios.

Your assistance would be much appreciated.

The output of system gave means that it didn't find the boot device. At this moment, you should focus on the JP3 setting. Please see our document <IPC110 Hardware Installation Guide v1.0.03.pdf> in here for more: http://downloads.openvox.cn/pub/misc/
Meanwhile, your baud rate should be 115200.

Options:
edit /etc/grub.conf to redirect booting info over serial port. Insert this line to be as your kernel option:
console=tty0 console=ttyS0,115200n8

edit /etc/inittab, insert this line to the end of the file.
7:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty /dev/ttyS0 115200

edit /etc/security: insert it next to tty11.
ttyS0
(suppose you use CentOS-based system)

Thanks for your replay.

I do understand that it did not find any boot device, my worries are because i cannot see any POST output or access the BIOS via the console.

I will proceed as per your instructions and will revert the results.

If any of you guys ever run in situation like mine, meaning you want to install CentOS through console without VGA then the below guide will help you.

The actuall method above is pretty awsome. You have the keyboard and mouse via the Console port
and you have the VGA output to your screen via network.

My mistake was that i was starting Remmina VNC app (ubuntus default) in listening mode which was actually starting a VNC server. I then realized that

I HAD TO START THE VNC VIEWER IN LISTENING MODE AND NOT A VNC SERVER.

I did this by executing the command


[font=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]

vncviewer -listen

[/size][/font]
I Booted the embedded system and then vouala... GUI installation

One last question please

Is the particular product life ended? Meaning OpenVox no longer produces IPC110 boards?

From your 1st post, it seems that you already passed your installation procedure. Thanks for sharing the link. It's cool.

For your 2nd post, IPC110 board is not ended so far, The shipment is still now.
